Jacob Meir, a celebrated fashion icon and global philanthropist, recently hosted Fashion For Peace, one of the marquee events during 2024 LA Fashion Week. The glamorous affair, held at the renowned Avalon Hollywood & Bardot, gathered some of the biggest names in Hollywood, top models, and dignitaries from across the globe, all in support of both fashion and charitable causes.

The red carpet shone brightly with a mix of stars from different industries, including music, film, fashion, and sports. High-profile attendees such as Vivica A. Fox, Akon, Deborah Cox, Jimmy Star, Toni Braxton, Jason Derulo, Lamar Odom, Moran Atias, Paula Abdul, and Richard Lawson made this event a true showcase of Hollywood’s elite.

The runway show featured an equally impressive roster, with supermodels like Christopher Cote, Connie Peña, and Arena Zeynali strutting the catwalk. Newcomer, Tyler Sebago, not only made his runway debut but also took on the coveted role of interviewing celebrity red carpet arrivals. Sebago, who is involved with several charitable organizations, shared, “I was so excited to be asked to join such a legendary group of talent, and especially excited to work with Jacob (Meir) to support such an amazing group of charities. So many take fame and fortune for granted, but Jacob really puts all of that aside. It’s amazing to watch someone really operate from a place of creative genius, and talent, and not a place of ego. What an amazing experience to be a part of. Nobody does it better than Jacob Meir.”

The evening’s fashion extravaganza began with an introduction from international megastar, Akon, who presented a show by Queen Ahneva Ahneva, founder of the African Textile Museum. Ahneva’s collection, which featured materials from five different African countries, highlighted her influence as a cultural fashion designer. With a prestigious clientele that includes Chris Tucker, Bill Clinton, and Angela Bassett, Ahneva has significantly shaped how African fashion is viewed worldwide.

For over four decades, Meir has been the designer of choice for stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Michael Jackson. His creations have been featured in projects like America’s Next Top Model, and his For The Stars Fashion House on Melrose Avenue remains a hotspot for celebrities looking for one-of-a-kind custom couture pieces.

While Fashion For Peace indeed showcased Meir’s iconic designs, the focus of the event was philanthropy. Meir’s career has been as much about giving back as it has been about fashion. His lifelong dedication to charity earned him the prestigious Presidential Medal of Honor, awarded by the Consulate General of the United Nations. Meir spoke about his mission, saying, “Throughout the course of my life, my goal is to use my fashion and resources to promote peace throughout the world. In my travels, I have come to deeply understand that everyone’s wish is to live in peace. As an avid supporter of these charitable organizations – and others – throughout my 40-year career, I am honored to establish Fashion For Peace to maximize the impact of charitable donations and raise awareness for these noteworthy causes.”

One of the standout moments of the night was when Meir introduced Nate Simon, the founder and CEO of 21 Pineapples Shirt Co. Meir has mentored Simon for over a decade. Simon, who has Down Syndrome, described his company’s mission: “We want to change the way others perceive people with Down Syndrome & other special abilities one Hawaiian shirt at a time.” Their collaboration has contributed to the brand’s growing mainstream success.

The event also saw Paula Abdul representing Wigs and Wishes, a non-profit organization that provides wigs and grants wishes to children battling cancer, and Richard Lawson, who shared insights into The RL Studios Foundation, which offers mentorship and scholarships to young artists, helping them develop their skills and pursue their dreams.

With the massive success of its inaugural run, Fashion For Peace is already set to return for an even bigger event during Los Angeles Fashion Week 2025.
