Opening Night at The 8th Annual Catalina Film Festival was held Wednesday September 26th at The Arts Theatre 2025 E. 4th Street in Long Beach, California. The atmosphere was traditional “sheik” Catalina Style. Founders Ron Truppa and Delious Tim Kennedy were present amongst the honored filmmakers, actors, and directors including Honorees Rosie Perez and Ramon Rodriquez for Pa’lante & Humanitarian Award.
The red carpet arrivals began at 7PM followed by the 7:30 P.M. Humanitarian Award presentation with the screening of “Pa’lante” and “Love, Possibly”. The Opening Night Gala party benefit for 100roofs.org was held at The Harbor (130 Pine Avenue, Long Beach).
Humanitarian Award recipient Rosie Perez & Ramon Rodriguez attended the screening of “Pa’lante” a film about the salvation and continued recovery of the victims of the Puerto Rico “Hurricane Maria”, regarded as being the worst natural disaster on record to affect Dominica and Puerto Rico ad is also the deadliest Atlantic hurricane since Hurricane Jeanne in 2004. The Catalina Film Festival continues in Long Beach on Thursday, September 27.
